The Tinies is a 1992 Sokoban-style puzzle game for the Macintosh by French studio Atreid Concept, published by Inline Design and later by Kalisto. Players guide a troop of small, hairy creatures from the planet Sklumph back to color-coded sleep pods scattered across one hundred increasingly devious levels.
Premise
The Tinies are described as mischievous, single-minded, and famously uncooperative; even their idle animations include sticking out their tongues at the player. The cartoonish framing softens what is at heart a strict logic puzzle.
Gameplay
Each level is a tile-based maze packed with walls, teleporters, chutes, and traps. The player must shepherd every Tiny into the matching pod without losing any to environmental hazards or to each other, making careful order of operations the central challenge.
Scope
With one hundred hand-designed stages, the game offers a long puzzle campaign for its era. Difficulty ramps gradually as new mechanical elements are introduced, then recombined in tighter spaces.
Compatibility
The Tinies targets 68k Macintoshes running System 6.x through Mac OS 9 and is widely reported to work under SheepShaver, Basilisk II, and Mini vMac. Both color and black-and-white assets exist, reflecting its early-1990s origin.
