About

Macintosh Football Manager is a freeware soccer-management simulation written by Malcolm McQuoid of TigaByte Software and released in 1999. It puts the player in charge of an English club with the twin goals of winning the Premier Championship and the FA Cup in a single season.

League structure

The game models the English league across four tiers - Premier and Divisions 1, 2, and 3 - with promotion, relegation, and FA Cup matches that draw teams from the Vauxhall and Unibond leagues. Squad data reflects the 1997-98 season.

Squad management

Over 2,500 players across 124 clubs are tracked with attributes for age, type, skill, fitness, injury, duty, wage, and transfer cost. A transfer market lets you buy and sell, and players age and retire over time.

On the pitch

Simulated matches support substitutes, injuries, mid-game formation changes, and variable playback speed. Team orders cover passing style, attacking posture, and time-wasting tactics. A player-manager mode lets you take the field as goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, or attacker.

Compatibility

Runs on System 7.0 through 7.6 on 68k hardware. QuickTime is recommended. A built-in editor allows custom scenarios.
