ALLOUT is a Mac OS 9 puzzle game in the Lights Out tradition, version 1.1, by Keith McLeod and distributed through NCBuy. Hosted in-game by Lew, the cartoon mascot of NCBuy's Down to Earth strip, it challenges players to switch off every light on a grid using a chain of toggling clicks.
How it plays
Click any piece on the board and it flips the state of all adjacent pieces between on and off. The goal sounds trivial: turn every light off. In practice it demands the careful planning familiar to fans of the classic Lights Out puzzle.
Content and scope
The game ships with more than 50 levels of escalating difficulty. Early boards teach the toggling logic; later layouts force players to reason backwards from the desired blank state.
Distribution and rights
ALLOUT is freely redistributable online or on CD-ROM provided the software is not altered. The Info-Mac submission lists Keith McLeod of NCBuy Development as author and contact, with the original product page at enetwork.ncbuy.com.
System requirements
The submission specifies Mac OS 9 as the target environment. The archive ships as a BinHex (.hqx) file that must be decoded with BinHex 4.0 or Stuffit Expander before launch.
This file is part of the MacTrove archive. See the Thank You page for the upstream mirrors we rely on. It is BinHex encoded — use The Unarchiver to decode it.
