Dark Forces Faq

Dark Forces FAQ is a Mac-native port of Karsten A. Loepelmann's frequently-asked-questions document for LucasArts' Star Wars: Dark Forces, packaged as a self-contained DOCMaker application. It collects level walkthroughs, weapon and enemy notes, and general gameplay tips for the 1995 first-person shooter.

DOCMaker format

The FAQ ships as a DOCMaker double-clickable application, so readers do not need a separate viewer or word processor. Pages, chapters, and a table of contents are all baked into the executable, a popular distribution format for Mac shareware documentation in the 1990s.

Mac port by Walter Duque de Estrada

The text is Loepelmann's, ported and packaged for the Macintosh by Walter Duque de Estrada. PC-only sections, such as DOS configuration tips, are kept in but highlighted in magenta so Mac readers can skip them. All factual questions are directed back to Loepelmann at his University of Alberta address.

What it covers

Topics include enemy behaviour, weapon pickups and ammo balance, hidden areas across the game's missions, and general strategy notes. It is a snapshot of community knowledge about Dark Forces from the era when the Mac version was still a current release.
