What is StartupSound.prefPane? StartupSound.prefPane is the software which controls the volume of the startup sound of your Macintosh computer. StartupSound.prefPane mute the startup sound without changing the output volume setting. And StartupSound.prefPane limits the startup volume so that it may not become loud even if you make the output volume louder. To set up the startup volume, you select the "Startup Sound" pane added to the "System Preferences." What's new in StartupSound.prefPane 1.1 • StartupSound.prefPane 1.1 has supported an Intel-based Mac. On Intel- based Mac, you can adjust the volume of startup sound more finely. • When you are logged in as a non-administrator user, you can use "Startup Sound" preference by clicking the lock icon and entering the name and password of an administrator. (It does not work with this BETA version.) System Requirements StartupSound.prefPane 1.1-BETA requires a Mac running Mac OS X version 10.4 or later. To install this software, you need an administrator name and password. If StartupSound.prefPane 1.0 is already installed on your Mac, You need to uninstall it before installation. Uninstalling StartupSound.prefPane Double-click the "Uninstaller" in the same folder in which this document exists, and follow the instructions of uninstaller. To uninstall this software, you need an administrator name and password. How to Use StartupSound.prefPane? When installation is completed, the volume of startup sound is set to 13% of maximum. To change the volume of startup sound, log in as an administrator to your computer, open the "System Preferences" and click the "Startup Sound." I've seen it marketed under the name Arcana, and heard of a commertial version called "Sorry". I've heard it referred to as being African. Mesopotamian, East Asian, or Indian in origin, and seems to come in almost as many variations as card games do. It's so old, I doubt if I'm infringing any copyrights. (Did copyright law exist in the Code of Hammurabi?) If anyone has any historical information about this game, let me know at the adress above. I'm interested. Also, I've included only some of the variants that either I know, or people have suggested to me. If there's a variation you loved as a kid, let me know what it is and I'll try to put it in.
