ReadMe-Reader.txt ============================================================================= Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 for Macintosh Updated: 04 November, 1996 Read Me Notes ============================================================================= This Read Me file contains last-minute product information for the Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 for Macintosh. For full instructions on using the Acrobat Reader please see the Acrobat Reader 3.0 Online Guide, which can be found in the file READER.PDF in the Help folder (which is in the same folder as the Acrobat Reader). When using Acrobat Reader, selecting the Help > Reader Online Guide menu will open READER.PDF automatically. (Note: the Help menu is the second menu from the right and is indicated by a Question mark icon.) Adobe encourages you to register as an Acrobat Reader user; letting us know who you are helps us continue to provide you with better products, better service, and the most up-to-date information on Adobe Acrobat. If you have not already registered, please do so at: http://www.adobe.com/acrobat/register.html To view the latest information on Acrobat, please go to: http://www.adobe.com/acrobat/ ============================================================================= Table of Contents This document contains the following sections: System Requirements Improving Performance Known Problems and Issues - Installation Issues - Web Browser Issues - General Issues - PostScript Printing Issues ============================================================================= System Requirements - Macintosh computer with 68020 (Macintosh II series) or greater processor (including all Power Macintosh computers). - MacOS 7.0 or later - 3300 KB application RAM for 680x0-based Macintosh or Power Macintosh with Virtual Memory turned on; 5227 KB for Power Macintosh with Virtual Memory turned off - 8 MB hard disk space, plus 4.4 MB additional temporary disk space available during installation - For viewing PDF files inside a Web browser, Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later (3.0.1 or later recommended) (Netscape Navigator 2.0.2 can also be used with limitations; e.g., it will not allow you to submit a PDF form, and operations such as printing PDF files from within Netscape Navigator 2.0.2 can crash your Mac.) You may also be able to use other Web browsers that fully support the Netscape APIs. ============================================================================= Improving Performance In most cases you can improve the performance of the Acrobat Reader and Search programs by increasing the memory allocated to the Acrobat Reader application and/or to Adobe Type Manager. For Acrobat Reader 3.0: 1. If the Acrobat Reader 3.0 program is running, you must first Quit. Strona 1 ReadMe-Reader.txt 2. From the Finder, select th…

ReadMe Harpoon II v1.0.0 Table of Contents Installation Instructions System Memory Recommendations System Anomalies Emulation Concerns Installation Instructions On the CD-ROM you received, there are two application files named Harpoon II and Harpoon II PowerMac, this ReadMe file, a copy of the SimpleText editor, and a folder named Resource. There are four ways to install this game: I. Drag the Harpoon II CD-ROM Finder icon to your hard drive. This will make a folder called Harpoon II CD-ROM on your hard drive, which will contain the entire game (about 40 MB). If you are playing on a PowerMac, throw away the file called Harpoon II. If you are not playing on a Power Mac, throw away the file called Harpoon II PowerMac. II. Play directly from the CD-ROM. This method of play will run slower than method I. It also makes the game take much longer to launch. III. You can copy just the application file that applies to your computer (Harpoon II or Harpoon II PowerMac) to the hard drive. The first time you launch the game, you'll be asked to locate various resources needed by the game which are still located on the CD-ROM. Once the game knows where these files are, you won't have to tell it again unless their location changes. This method is faster to load than method II, but still runs slower than method I. IV. You can copy the application file as in method III (above). In addition you can copy some of the folders from the Resource folder on the CD-ROM. First, make a folder called Resource in the same folder on your hard drive to which the application has been copied. Next, copy any desired folders to your new Resource folder on your hard drive, from the CD-ROM's Resource folder. To enhance game performance, we suggest you copy the Annex Data and Text Resources folders. This uses a small amount of disk space and speeds up the game compared to method III. If you plan on looking at the pictures in the Platform Display a great deal, you should probably copy the Picture Resources folder also. System Memory Recommendations If you have less than 16 MB of RAM, you should turn on virtual memory in the Memory control panel, and set it to twice the amount of non-virtual RAM. For instance, if you have 8 MB of non-virtual memory, set your total virtual memory to 16 MB. You will have to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. System Anomalies We have noticed a problem with QuickTime™ 2.0 and Harpoon II. The problem we found was a crash bug as Harpoon attempted to open and play a movie file. Replacing QuickTime™ 2.0 with version 1.6.1 solved the problem. This problem does not occur with all computers, but if you experience crashes while videos are playing, you might try using a different version of QuickTime™, or turning off the videos (in Game Preferences under the Settings Menu). Emulation If you are using a PowerMac and Harpoon seems to be running slow, make sure you are using t…
