UBASI S C AV for Macintosh Installation -1- Operation Manual by Ernst Nathorst-Böös and Ludvig Carlson. Quality Control: C. Bachmann, H. Horntrich, A. Menke, C. Schomburg. Quit all applications so that you return to the Finder. 2. Put the Cubasis AV CD-ROM disk into your drive and locate the Installer file for your particular language. Cubasis AV is available in several languages. The CD-ROM supplied could contain more than just a version in your own language, each is stored in its own folder. 3. Double click on the relevant Installer file. 4. In the dialog box that appears, click on the Install button. 5. Follow the instructions on screen. 6. The program has now automatically created a Cubasis AV folder on your hard disk. Locate this, and examine its contents. -3- What is Installed? Most of the files in the new folder are necessary to run the program. Do not move or delete them. However, you can use the Finder to move the whole folder to any place on any of your hard disks. You will also find additional audio example files and songs on the CD-ROM, which are not installed automatically. ● If you want to use these files, drag them to your hard disk before opening them in Cubasis AV! Do not play files directly from the CD-ROM! Making Computer settings for Audio Before you launch Cubasis AV you have to make certain settings on your Macintosh: 1. Turn off Virtual Memory in the Memory Control Panel. Cubasis AV will not run with Virtual Memory activated. 2. Check that the Modern Memory Manager is activated in the Memory Control Panel. For changes in the memory settings to have any effect, you have to restart your Macintosh. -4- 3. Turn off File Sharing. File Sharing may use processor power and “block” disk accesses, which slows down the apparent performance of the computer. 4. Open the Monitors and Sound control panel and select the audio input you want to use when recording in Cubas…

However, it does not give detailed instructions on how to set up your audio and MIDI system and how to trim your settings for highest possible performance. This information can instead be found in the User Guide document. This is what you need... To use Cubasis AV you need the following: • A PC computer with a hard disk and a monitor. For more details about the computer requirements, see below. • Windows 95/98 or 3.1x installed on the computer. For Audio • A Windows Multimedia compatible 16 bit audio card. By audio card we mean a card capable of recording and playing back digital audio using your hard disk as a storage medium. Aside from these basic re- quirements there are other considerations which affect the performance and use of the card, such as full duplex mode, stereo/mono, etc. See the chapter “Optimizing Audio Performance” in the User Guide document. -3- For MIDI • At least one MIDI Interface. Cubasis AV can be used with any MIDI interface that comes with a Windows Multimedia driver. • At least one MIDI instrument. Sometimes, the MIDI interface and instrument are built into the same card. As far as Cubasis AV is concerned, such a card is equivalent to a regular MIDI in- terface connected to an external MIDI synthesizer. You may also find MIDI synthesizers and/or interfaces on many audio cards. • Any audio equipment necessary to listen to the sound from your MIDI devices. • At least two MIDI cables. This is only needed if your MIDI instruments are external – not mounted in- side the computer. For Printing • To print out scores, you also need a Windows compatible printer. -4- About the Computer Requirements Processing Power If you want to be able to record and play back audio in Cubasis AV, the absolute minimum requirem…

___________________________________ Documentation by David Dunham and Glenn Andreas Special thanks to: Andrew Welch and Jason Whong ©1997-9 by Ambrosia Software, Inc. The last thing you remember is going to the kitchen for a snack, when everything went black... When you wake up, you find yourself lying on a hard stone floor. You try to look around and discover an older distinguished looking man, wearing robes, and a hunchback dressed in motley next to him... "He's awake" says the hunchback. "This is good," says the older man. "I hope you are right about this, Magpie, it has taken almost all of my powers to bring him here." "It was our only chance - if we can't find a way to restore you to power, Cythera is doomed, and all your work will have been for naught." Journey to the island of Cythera, land of mystery and adventure. Discover the mysteries of Alaric, ageless Land King whose powers have kept Cythera prosperous and at peace - but now his powers are failing and chaos threatens to engulf the land. Cythera Documentation Page 1 Wed, Jun 27, 2018 Welcome to Cythera Cythera casts you as the legendary saviour of a violently divided nation. Sensing the impending downfall of the King, the ruling houses of Cythera struggle for political power in the ancient land. Some will stop at nothing to seize control. While the houses labor to increase their own power, the neutral mages struggle for a higher consciousness and the betterment of humanity. They envision a world free from treachery and deceit. These students of the magick arts anxiously await the return of Alaric's mystical powers, as well as the end of the land's deadly slide toward chaos. But even they are unaware of the underlying tragedy which prepares to strike the land. Your quest will take you through many trials as you uncover the mysteries of Cythera, its origin, its people, and its political hierarchies. You must do everything in your power to save the King, restore the balance of power, and return Cythera to its roots. About this Manual This manual assumes that you are familiar with the Macintosh and its basic operation. If you need help using the mouse, choosing from menus, or working in the Finder, please consult the Macintosh User’s Guide that came with your Macintosh. This manual mixes a fictional narrative with conventional instructions on how to play Cythera.
