You may wish to save and/or print these instructions before proceeding, since installation may require your computer to be restarted. INTRODUCTION This installer will update software in your OMS and Extensions folders pertaining to the following products: Audiophile USB Keystation 49 and 61 MIDISPORT 1x1, 2x2, 2x4, 4x4, and 8x8 Oxygen8 Ozone Quattro USB Radium 49 and 61 Sonica This package is not relevant to you if you do not own any of the products listed above. Please note that if you are installing software for one product, software for the others may also be updated. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS We recommend a Macintosh computer with a G3 processor or better and Mac OS 9 or greater. Some earlier PowerPC-based computers have been known to work. In any case, a USB port is required. (We do not recommend the use of USB hubs with this product.) INSTALLATION [1] M-Audio products for Mac OS 9 are accessible to MIDI applications through a technology called OMS. If you already have version 2.3.8 of OMS installed, you may skip this step. Otherwise, install OMS. You can find the installer for this software on your driver CD or on the M-Audio web site. [2] Open the installer application and follow the instructions it gives you. The installer will restart your computer to load the new software. [3] Using the supplied USB cable, connect your new device to your computer. AUDIO CONFIGURATION M-Audio products support two digital audio technologies, Sound Manager and ASIO. Because it is more versatile and powerful in a number of ways, ASIO is generally preferred. However, Sound Manager may be more compatible with hardware and software which is not as sophisticated as M-Audio products. Our goal in these instructions will be to get your software configured to use ASIO as much as possible, but you may encounter situations in which you wish to use Sound Manager. [1] For each of your audio applications which use ASIO, open the application and find the window which contains input and output device configuration controls. Typically, this is found under an Options or Settings menu or menu item. [2] Tell the application not only to use ASIO but also to use your new device as appropriate. You will usually be given a choice of devices in the form of a popup menu. After doing this, you will be able to enable your new device's audio inputs and outputs for use within the application. [3] If you have audio applications which do not use ASIO but you wish to use with your new device, open the Sound control panel (from the Control Panels menu in the Apple menu), and use the Input and Output tabs to set the input and output devices to use your new device.
