Airport problems!
Hello!
I am using a PB G4 (OS 9.2) with an airport card. What happens is this: At first I have a decent signal strength. After a couple of seconds I have no signal at all. The airport then toggles between signal and no signal. When there is a signal it is rather high so it can't be that it is in a border zone. I have tried to change the card but no difference. Another computer in the same room works fine.
Anybody got an idea what causes this.
Hopefully soon, since my boss said in his most angry voice "SOLVE THIS"

I go through this sometimes with my PB G4 400 when moving between client offices. In some airport driven places it works just fine, whilst in others my signal fluctuates like what you described.
Some offices are the pits. I can sit my PB right beside a transmitting base station and depending on what angle the PB sits on it can still fluctuate.
Luckily though it doesn't seem to be a problem outside of certain locations - my home for instance runs perfectly, in any room. You might want to check for any sources of interference.

Interference could possibly cause a drop in signal quality. You might try changing channels.

Ok! Nice (in a way, anyway) to hear that this is happening to someone else. The problem is that it works fine with my PB G3. My boss also has airport at home where it works fine, just like slapdash explained.
I really wonder about interference though. Since it works flawlessly with my PB G3.
It is a bit annoying that there is no simple solution to this. I've tried to zap the pram and then it worked for a while. Maybe until he switched to his home network and back to the office. That is a possibility.
If I want to change the frequency, how do I do?

No, it didn't happen on your G3. My Pismo's reception is WAY better than my TiBook's.
One possible help: turn the TiBook's orientation
I have found that just one floor below the airport at home even rotating the Ti by 30 degrees will vastly strengthen reception in this location.
Requires some experimentation.

No, it didn't happen on your G3. My Pismo's reception is WAY better than my TiBook's.[/QUOTE]
Yep, the PB G4 is right crap when it comes to reception - if you have two of them you can set one up as a base station...thats where the most noticable impact can be seen...
As mentioned above though, orientation can mean everything. The worst is when you're in an office and find the only place it works right is a foot off the desk and off to an angle lol

I don't know if you understand, really. I can put the computer next to the antenna and the signal reaches maximum. But it still fluctuates. The problem is not the strength, it is the fluctuations. Although I can agree that the antenna in the PB G4 titan sucks, at least compared to my PB G3.

Does the signal strength fluctuate at all on the G3 PB? or is it always consistant? And which AirPort base station do you have, Snow, Or Graphite?
No it does not fluctuate. It changes of course when i move around but it never goes from good strength to zero and then back and so forth no, on my PB G3.
