Eating Hamburgers Still -- Second Thoughts?
Living in the UK, I'm probably fudged anyway! So it makes no difference...
"XL Big King please, could I have the extra Spinal Cord for 30p? Cheers...."

Haven't eaten a Hamburger in about 15 years, but I have had about 1 Kebab per year. Apart from that I almost never eat red meat, perhaps once a year.

As a guy I knew used to say when ordering steak, "Blow its nose, wipe its butt, and put it on the plate!"
That steak looks horrible. I like mine well done.
Anyway... I was under the impression that, in Australia anyway, it was illegal to use the brain of an animal in a meat product without explicit notice...
Anyway. I'll be eating as much red meat as ever.

Apparently you won't be. It will be gray and crispy, not red.
My beef philosophy is the redder the better. Oh man, I'm hungry.
I had a yummy cheese burger at McSorley's Old Ale House yesterday at 1:00 (along with about 18 lights) and a "Texas Burger" with bacon at Cozy Soup and Burger at about 6:00. I've felt no ill effect, with the possible exception of the dramatic increase in the viscosity of my blood!
Mad Cow, Mad Schmow!
Mad Cow, Mad Schmow!

Sorry Ciph but anyone who eats steak well done doesn't deserve to eat steak. Dry, grey, tasteless, horrible stuff.
Thankfully more and more restaurants refuse to serve beef, lamb and some fish at anything more than 'medium rare'.

So true! Well.. to an extent
Yep, the redder the better...
I like my meat to bleed when I use a fork and knife on it (and yes, I do know that this sentence could be misunderstood)

I love to eat beef and I must have it WELL done. What I want is a piece of burnt meat with some black crispies around the edge. I don't want to see any pink inside, nor any pink coloured juices collecting on the plate. Why? To me it simply tastes better.
Some folks like it so rare that I wonder why they even bother going to a restaurant. It would be cheaper to go to a butcher's shop and munch on a hunk of raw meat. Yuck!
BSE wont stop me until people start dying from it. Then, perhaps, I'll have to eat a lot of pork as I did in Germany a few years ago. But I have to say that eating only pork, when I want meat, gets old very quickly.

haven't eaten meat (or anything formerly alive) for over 3 years now. don't miss it, never will.
Yes you have, deekay, you've eaten plants.
When you kill a plant for food you rid the atmosphere of a useful creature that converts our bad air into oxygen again!
That's actually almost worse then killing an animal when you think about it
Damn vegans with no sense.

ohhkay...here we go.
a) no, "plants" are not "alive" in the same sense as "animals" are!
b) how in the **** do you know what i eat!
c) the cattle and livestock (after being raised in less than "admirable" conditions most of the time for your stupida$$ meateating habits) consumes far more "bad air to oxygen producing" plants etc. than all vegetarians and vegans on this planet cobined - not to mention all the bull$hit that comes with it.
so go ahead my little a$$nuggets. follow the herd...satisfy your meat cravings!
lol .... kinda sad in a way
but true. :|
er... sorry :|
but true. :|er... sorry :|

Here in the UK we went through a similar meat crisis, and again last year with the foot and mouth outbreak in sheep. Now the reasons why the British government took such extreme measures was because research showed a link between the sheep form of BSE and the cow form, however to this day they have not been able to prove a link between BSE in animals and CJD in humans.
However the political situation in Europe of course escalated the whole thing. As it turns out only a small amount of beef produced by the UK is actually consumed in the UK, the hamburger chains all source meat from either the Netherlands or Belgium because of price. The rest is exported or stored. So I think most people here continued eating meat anyway, especially since no health warning was issued.
Now I'm not burger fanatic however since I'm visiting the US next week for the MacWorld I will of course have to eat and to be honest I can't see eating any meat that is properly cooked as being an issue.

I'm going to cut down in 2004.
It making me loss my hair at a very young age. I don't think it's mad cow disease though.

My great-grandfather used to say "Walk the cow out here, I'll cut off my choice."
I like my steaks rare too. When the waiter/waitress asks how I wish it to be cooked I say, "Barely."
As far as vegitarians, there is a bumper sticker that says "Save a cow, eat a vegitarian." I think that's going too far. Cows taste better.
But I do refuse to eat green scallions. Those things are dangerous.
