AirPort or iPod?

Hmmmm?

OK the AirPort Express base station just came on the Canadian store, for 170 dollars Edu, this plus a 100 dollar APE card leaves me at 270 + 14 percent sales tax. This or an iPod mini for 315, or full blown 15 gigger for 365.

Granted I also want to sadly get M$ office for writing papers (I used text edit all last year, but I think I have to try and footnote using AppleWorks again I'm going to shoot someone.) and for doing presentations (if I'm gona waste my money on Word I might as well bother to use PowerPoint.)

I've already ordered in a 512 of RAM and Wacom graphics tablet which is gona cost me over 300 already... so I'm not sure I can afford both the AirPort setup and the iPod.

I hate to say it but, AirPort might actually get better use than an iPod... but the iPod is soo geek chic!

Hmmm... perhaps for Christmas....

So if given this conundrum, which would you pick? AirPort Express and Extreme... or iPod?

That's a tough one. I'd probably go with the iPod because you can use ethernet for now as a temporary solution. Then get AirPort for Christmas or something.

Then again, with AirPort, you could stream your MP3s to your stereo. That's what I plan to do.

Congratulations on supporting one of the companies owned by the savior of humanity, His Holiness the Reverend Sun Myung Moon!

F*ck Microsoft
While I have no desire to support Microsoft. I can not pirate software and feel right... although let me check on Canadian software copyright laws... hehe
Get a cheap 3rd party WiFi router and an Airport card for about $150 bucks and then use the rest for a good start on an iPod.
I want the Express base station for the AirTunes feature. That was the kicker.
iPod!
Do you play more music when you're home or when you're out and about? If it's the latter, I'd go for the iPod. But if you choose the mini, you're going to be waiting well into August.

You can always use a cheap cable from RadioShack to play music from your iPod on your stereo, if that's really important to you when you're at home.
That's true about the mini... hmmm I think I'll go for instant gratification with AirPort

And then maybe wait for that inevitable iPod 60gig model to come out, then either get a clearance 15 giger, or new 20 inch hopefully with a new wheel design based on the mini

A good option is a Monster iCable.
I don't use a sterio. I have a little amp connected to four speakers

It's my hacked together solution. The amp was thirty bucks, the speakers were thirty bucks each and two from a free RCA setup my mom won. That said I might steal my mom's JVC sterio from a few years ago, we got it at costco, CD player stopped working so she has no use for it but it has Audio in.
I guess it's a good thing that you have a sense of morals when it comes to piracy, unlike me.

Monster Cable is ****ing stupid. It makes no difference to other quality oxygen free wire, but they charge an arm and a leg. Monster Cable is proof of the quote "A sucker is born every minute".

Maybe you should also say the 'tornado' fuel saver is a good option for getting better mpg.

Well maybe, though it didn't cost me an arm or a leg. God, you make it sound as if the frickin thing costs as much as an iPod. It was on sale where I got it anyway. Jeesh!
Am I witnessing an argument between Ca$h and himself? What the hell is going on here 68s?

No sh1t, Moon owns Wacom? I have to hand it to the little megalomaniac for making a damn fine product. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it. Reverand Moon, savior to graphic artists everywhere!

Seems true. Google gives a couple of references...

I will need to purchase an AirPort when I switch to Comcast Cable.

I just wish there was an alternative for the mac. I found out about that about a week after I got mine. He is a devious bastard.

Yea, I hate Crutchfield. Maybe I'll break into their store and steal what I want. After all, if you don't like a company, it's OK to steal their products right?
Hmm, after thinking about this, I'd say the AirPort. As nice as the iPod is (and I'd get one over the tablet unless you ABSOLUTELY NEED it), the wireless experience is too good to pass up.
As much as I enjoy working on PowerMacs at work, it would take something pretty awesome to get me to get anything other than an iBook or PowerBook at home.
Go for the AirPort Chick (it'll save you whining about there not being any wireless hubs available). And get that broken stereo off your mom. Sorted.

Oh and "gamma test" M$ Office until you can afford to buy it (it'll keep your concience clear if you know you intend to buy it).

Yes, but it's not OK to break stuff.

Just wondering what the view is like when your head is shoved up your ass....

Who is this Moon guy?

Anyway, I think I've settled on the AirPort... I just typed iPod though... I really want one!

Oh well I will save and save and once the current ones go on sale I shall buy... maybe. Oh well least this will save me some cash and I'll be able to get it sooner anyway.

Anyone know if the Apple Store Edu charges shipping? If it does I'll have to get a replacement student card since I lost mine.
