Marathon Shot Shells Sounds is a fan-made sound modification for Bungie's classic Macintosh first-person shooter Marathon. The package replaces selected weapon and impact effects with new spent-shell and casing samples, dropping into the game's sound resource pipeline to refresh the audio without altering levels or gameplay.
What It Is
A sound resource pack distributed in the BinHex/StuffIt format common to mid-1990s Mac shareware, intended to be loaded by Marathon's sound engine in place of the default effects.
Installation
Drop the supplied sound file into Marathon's data folder (or use a Marathon sound merger utility) so the engine reads the alternate samples on launch.
Compatibility
Targets the original Marathon for classic Mac OS; best run on a System 7 era Mac or under emulators such as SheepShaver and Basilisk II.
Audience
Aimed at Marathon enthusiasts who want a fresh sonic coat of paint on a familiar campaign without committing to a full total-conversion scenario.
