Betty Bobs is a Marathon character mod for the original Bungie shooter on the Mac. Distributed in Info-Mac as betty-bobs-11.hqx, it is the 1.1 release by scottm@best.com, framed in the readme as an update to iMpactt's earlier Betty Bobs patch that swaps both the sprites and the sounds for the friendly Bob NPCs.
What it changes
The patch replaces both the Bob sprites and the Bob sound set in the player's original Marathon files. iMpactt's 1.0 was mute; this 1.1 release adds the screams and whimpers that the author says "lodged itself in my brain" once the silent version was in place.
Lineage
The mod is explicitly a follow-on to a prior iMpactt Betty Bobs sprite patch, and is positioned as the audio-completing companion rather than a standalone replacement project.
