Wizbang's Wolfenstein Sounds is a community sound pack for the Macintosh release of Wolfenstein 3D. It replaces nearly every effect in the game with a fresh set of clips - the original gunshots are kept untouched - giving the classic id Software shooter a new sonic identity without altering its gameplay.
What it changes
The pack swaps out the in-game guard barks, dog growls, doors, ambient cues, and other effects for new recordings. Per the author's note, only the gunshot effects are preserved from the stock game, so weapon feedback still feels familiar while the rest of the soundscape is overhauled.
Installation
Installation instructions are bundled inside the BinHex archive. The pack is intended to drop into a working Wolfenstein 3D Mac install so the game loads the replacement audio at launch.
Requirements
You need the Macintosh port of Wolfenstein 3D, originally released for classic Mac OS in 1994. The mod targets that build rather than any modern source port and runs cleanly under Mac emulators such as SheepShaver and Basilisk II.
Distribution
Filed in the Info-Mac archive at game/com/wolf/wizbangs-wolf-sounds.hqx, alongside other community add-ons for the Mac edition of Wolfenstein 3D.
