Three Crowns is a three-level scenario pack for id Software and MacPlay's Wolfenstein 3D, built by Mike Hunter. Originally authored for the free First Encounter shareware release, it was later updated to run on the full commercial Mac version of Wolfenstein 3D.
A treasure-hunt twist
Rather than the standard kill-everything-and-find-the-elevator structure, each of the pack's three levels asks the player to track down three hidden crowns before exiting. The objective gives the maps a light puzzle flavour layered on top of the usual gunplay.
From First Encounter to commercial
Hunter first built the levels as a mod for Wolfenstein 3D: The First Encounter, the cut-down free shareware release, then revised them for compatibility with the full commercial version after community demand.
