Jigsaw Deluxe is the 1994 commercial sibling to the simple jigsaw puzzle bundled with Mac OS 7.5, developed by Captain's Software. It introduced freely rotatable puzzle pieces and per-piece sorting boxes, and shipped in two editions: a floppy version with two pictures for $20, and a CD-ROM containing 120 puzzles for $35. This entry is the demo build.
What's new versus the system puzzle
Where Apple's bundled puzzle locked pieces to a grid, Jigsaw Deluxe lets each piece rotate to any angle and be parked in dedicated sorting boxes around the workspace.
Editions
Buyers in 1994 could choose a floppy edition with two source pictures or a CD-ROM with 120 puzzles spanning travel and landscape photography.
Demo scope
The demo restricts the puzzle library compared to the retail floppy and CD editions but exercises the same rotation and sorting mechanics.
Publisher
Captain's Software, a small Mac developer of the early-to-mid 1990s, with a focus on puzzle and casual titles.
