The Amoeb Arena Player Editor is a companion utility to AmoebArena, Jason Regier's 1994-1995 turn-based strategy game distributed by Casady & Greene. The editor unlocks the scenario and player customization features bundled with the registered version, letting owners craft new arenas and combatants for the amoeba combat sim.
Companion to AmoebArena
The base AmoebArena game pits players against a human or computer opponent in arena duels fought with sentient amoebas in the year 2309. The Player Editor exists specifically to extend that title rather than stand alone.
Editor features
According to the Macintosh Garden listing for AmoebArena, the registered version unlocks tournaments and a scenario editor; this Player Editor download surfaces those creation tools as a separate companion install.
Authors and provenance
AmoebArena was written by Jason Regier with graphics by Mark Jordan, and published by Casady & Greene for the Macintosh in 1994-1995. The Player Editor ships alongside the v1.1 game image distributed for emulator use.
Running it today
Because the editor is tightly coupled to AmoebArena, it is most easily run by mounting the prepared .dsk image that bundles AmoebArena v1.1 with the Player Editor pre-installed inside a Classic Mac OS emulator such as Mini vMac or Basilisk II.
