Final Solution is a Macintosh mapset for Wolfenstein 3D's Second Encounter, designed by Pier Luigi Andreoni. The complete release contains twelve maps; this demo is a five-level preview that showcases the level design and gameplay tweaks before committing to the full set.
About the scenario
The demo runs as a custom episode for the Mac edition of Wolfenstein 3D, using the original engine, weapons, and enemy roster. Andreoni's level design leans on the Second Encounter feature set, giving the maps a distinct flavour from the stock id Software episodes.
Demo vs. full release
Players who finish the five demo levels can graduate to Final Solution 2, the twelve-level full version. The demo is structured to stand on its own while previewing the pacing and aesthetic of the larger scenario.
Naming note
A separate PC Wolfenstein 3D mod by Treece/Parafriction also carries the title "The Final Solution." The two projects are unrelated; the shared name is a coincidence rooted in the game's wartime setting.
Requirements
Final Solution Demo requires a working Mac installation of Wolfenstein 3D Second Encounter, typically run today under Classic Mac OS emulation such as SheepShaver or Basilisk II.
