Mia, better known in the Marathon community as M1A1, is a fan-made conversion of Bungie's original Marathon (1994) into the Marathon 2 / Aleph One engine. It lets the first chapter of the trilogy be played on modern Aleph One ports while preserving the original level design, terminals, and storyline of the Pfhor invasion of the colony ship Marathon.
Marathon, Reborn on Aleph One
Bungie released the Marathon source and map data into the community, and M1A1 wraps the first game's solo campaign so it can be loaded by Aleph One. The result is the Marathon 1 experience running on the same engine that powers Marathon 2 and Infinity scenarios.
What Is Included
The conversion ships the full single-player campaign along with the original terminals, textures, and sounds. Later revisions of the M1A1 project added net maps and a handful of secret levels on top of the base port.
Why Play It
For anyone who first met Bungie's universe through Marathon 2, M1A1 is the canonical way to revisit the opening chapter without having to track down the original 1994 binary or chase down a working classic Mac.
