Awesome Resurrection is a curated pack of custom Wolfenstein 3D scenarios assembled by Josh Mills (copperfield@worldnet.att.net), released in the late 1990s as part of a four-volume series that kept the aging id Software shooter alive on the classic Mac well after its commercial life had ended.
Scenarios
Each pack bundles dozens of fan-made maps -- from the original 36-scenario first volume through the 110-strong third pack -- contributed by Mills and a community of Wolfenstein addicts who built everything from earnest castle assaults to joke levels like Beavis and Butt-head's Dog and Fresh Prince of Castleview.
Engine
The scenarios drop into MacPlay's Wolfenstein 3D engine, retaining its 320x200 raycast corridors, hitscan combat, and secret-door hunting. A few maps work with the free First Encounter shareware version; most require the registered Third Encounter to load all weapons and bosses.
System Requirements
68k Mac running System 7.0 through Mac OS 9, the registered Wolfenstein 3D application, and around 10 MB of free disk space for the larger packs. Wolfenstein only loads the first 99 files from the Levels folder, so heavy compilations need pruning.
Curation
Mills folded in salvaged content from the defunct WolfAddict Software along with icons and small utilities, making the packs less a single mod than a community time-capsule of Mac Wolfenstein scenario-building.
