About

Awesome Resurrection is a community compilation of 36 third-party Wolfenstein 3D scenarios for the Macintosh, assembled by the Info-Mac contributor copperfield@worldnet.att.net. Released roughly six years after Wolfenstein 3D's debut, it gathers work from numerous scenario authors into a single drop-in mappack for fans who already owned the full game.

Concept

The pack is the first volume in a series - subsequent Awesome Resurrection releases (II, III, IV) followed in the same Info-Mac com/wolf folder. The premise across the series is that Wolfenstein may be aging, but the scenario scene around it was still alive, productive, and worth curating.

Featured Scenarios

Highlights include Castle Wolfenstein Beta-20, Dragon Cavern, Spear of Destiny, Arena of Death, Auf Wiedersehen Adolf, Castle Claustrophobia, Mutants' Lair, Operation-Annihilate, Treasure Hunt Deluxe, WolfMade, and The Shadow Men. Tone runs from straight Nazi-fortress combat to deliberately absurd parody levels.

Authors

Maps come from copperfield and a long list of community contributors active in the late-1990s Mac Wolfenstein community, including authors known from sibling Info-Mac releases such as Castle Wolfenstein, Dragon Cavern, and Tigers.

Requirements

Awesome Resurrection is a scenario pack, not a standalone game: it requires the full registered version of MacPlay's Wolfenstein 3D for the Macintosh to load. The archive is distributed as awesome-resurrection-1.hqx in the Info-Mac game/com/wolf folder.
