East Tower is a fan-made scenario for the Macintosh edition of Wolfenstein 3D, distributed in the late 1990s through the active Mac modding community that grew up around MacPlay's port of id Software's first-person shooter. Like other Mac scenarios of the era, it ships as a level pack consumed by the base game engine.
Mac Wolfenstein scenarios
Laning Software's Mac port of Wolfenstein 3D shipped with a flexible scenario format that let hobbyists build complete level sets, with new floor and wall textures, sprites, and digitized sounds. East Tower is one of dozens of community scenarios that circulated on Info-Mac and personal pages during the shareware era.
Format and requirements
The scenario requires the full retail Macintosh Wolfenstein 3D as a host. Players drop the scenario file into the same folder as the application and pick it from the in-game scenario menu. It runs on any 68k or PowerPC Mac that can host the base game.
Preservation
The file is preserved as part of Macintosh Garden's broader collection of Wolfenstein 3D community add-ons, alongside hundreds of other user-built scenarios.
