Wolf-Aid v1.1a, by Bruce Ryder of Raymond Corporation, is a stand-alone Macintosh helper application aimed at people designing new levels for Wolfenstein 3D. It is presented as an authorized how-to guide for the freeware editor Wolf-Edit (specifically Wolf-Edit 1.1) rather than an editor in its own right.
What it actually is
Rather than touching the Wolfenstein 3D maps directly, Wolf-Aid is a self-contained instructional tool: an authorized guide that walks you through working productively with Wolf-Edit 1.1 to build new scenarios.
Color illustrations
The guide leans on color illustrations to teach editor workflows. Because it is a stand-alone app rather than a HyperCard stack or PDF, the author recommends bumping its preferred memory size to roughly 1500K to view all the artwork comfortably.
Limitations
The stand-alone packaging carries trade-offs: you cannot print graphics from inside Wolf-Aid, so the suggested workaround is to take a screen "snapshot" of any page you want on paper.
System requirements
Wolf-Aid runs on any color-capable Macintosh under System 6.0.7 or later. It does not require Wolfenstein 3D itself to read, but it is only useful in conjunction with Wolf-Edit 1.1 when you are actually building levels.
