Upsidedown — full name Upsidedownenstein — is a fan-made Wolfenstein 3D level by Alan V. Hardin, submitted to Info-Mac as the author's first level for the Mac port. The conceit is straight from the title: every enemy in the level is flipped upside down, so guards appear to be walking along the ceiling as the player works through the map.
The hook
The submission notes describe a single visual gag carried across the entire level — every enemy sprite rendered upside down, which from the player's perspective makes the soldiers and SS look as if they have been pasted to the ceiling rather than the floor.
Built for The Third Encounter
Hardin specifies that the level targets The Third Encounter, the Macintosh Wolfenstein 3D mission pack, so it loads through that scenario's level structure rather than the original DOS-era episodes.
Author submission
The upload is credited to Alan V. Hardin, a geophysical consultant who included his work email and phone number with the original Info-Mac submission and explicitly invited player feedback by email.
