This is Blizzard's official Mac patch that upgrades a v1.0 install of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (1995) to v1.06. The original Warcraft is the game that launched Blizzard's real-time strategy line, pitting a Human kingdom against an invading Orcish horde across the world of Azeroth in continuous, click-driven combat.
What the patch does
Version 1.06 rolls in the bug fixes and stability work Blizzard pushed after the initial Mac release, addressing known crash conditions and unit-handling quirks in the base 1.0 build of Orcs & Humans.
Requires the base game
The updater is not a standalone executable. It needs a working v1.0 install of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans on the local disk and patches the application file in place.
Distribution
Shipped as macwar.hqx (about 575 KB) in the standard mid-1990s BinHex envelope. Decode with StuffIt Expander to reveal the updater application.
System requirements
Targets the same hardware as the original Mac release of Warcraft: a 68k or early PowerPC Macintosh running System 7, with the original game already installed before the updater is run.
