Marathon Guide 2.00 is a player-written strategy and hint guide for Bungie's original Marathon, distributed as a standalone Macintosh document in 1995. Compiled by Ryan Johnson and posted to Info-Mac, it walks through the game's levels and tactics for solo players working their way through the Pfhor invasion.
What it covers
The guide collects walkthroughs, weapon notes, and tips for surviving Marathon's claustrophobic corridors and terminals, aimed at players who want help past the tougher early- and mid-game encounters.
Origin
Author Ryan Johnson (marathon@halcyon.com) wrote the guide as a fan project and noted in his Info-Mac submission that he contacted Bungie directly and received approval before circulating it.
Distribution
Released as freeware with copyright notices intact, intended for re-mirroring across the Mac shareware sites of the era. The Info-Mac copy is dated February 27, 1995.
