Star Wars Game Demo is a fan-made Macintosh shareware adventure based on the original Star Wars film. Distributed through the Info-Mac archive by Byron Lockhart, it offers a single-player taste of a larger title that featured multi-player action, an AdventureMaker editor, and over six minutes of music drawn from the movie.
Single-Player Demo Adventure
The demo limits play to one player and is launched by selecting Run Adventure and choosing the bundled Star Wars Demo Adventure. Controls are intentionally simple, aimed at quickly putting players inside a Star Wars-themed scenario without an involved learning curve.
Features of the Full Version
According to the author's notes, the full release expanded the demo with two-player action, additional adventures, and the ability to command armies of X-Wings, Star Cruisers, and Y-Wings. A bundled AdventureMaker tool let players design and share their own scenarios.
Distribution and Author
The demo was uploaded to Info-Mac under com/star-wars-game-demo.hqx by Byron Lockhart (byron@community.net), who invited questions and comments by email. Like much of the Info-Mac game catalog, it is an unlicensed fan creation rather than an official LucasArts product.
