Absolute Zero 1.0.4 Update is the official patcher that lifts an existing Absolute Zero 1.0.3 install to 1.0.4. Distributed in Info-Mac as absolute-zero-104-updt.hqx by Mike Kelly, the readme is blunt: it works only against 1.0.3, and earlier versions must be stepped up to 1.0.3 first or the patcher "will probably crash."
What 1.0.4 changes
The release is a single bug fix. Per the readme, version 1.0.4 "fixes a nasty crash bug that reared its ugly head in version 1.0.3," with no other changes since the prior release. Players already happy with stability gain nothing else by applying it.
Version gating
The patcher refuses to operate on anything other than a 1.0.3 install. Owners of pre-1.0.3 builds must locate and apply the earlier 1.0.3 update before this one will run cleanly; using it on an older install is explicitly called out as a likely crash.

Archived at info-mac/game/com/absolute-zero-104-updt.hqx; the BinHex envelope from mkelly@cs.uoregon.edu is the sole verified source for the description above. The base game it patches is Domark/Conspiracy Games's Absolute Zero space combat sim.
