DonDen, by Shinji Ichikawa of Redshirt Studio, is a PowerPC-only puzzle board game that turns Tic-Tac-Toe and Gomoku on their head: every turn you move one of your opponent's tokens instead of your own. The result is a deceptively simple but punishing exercise in inverted strategy against a computer opponent.
Concept
Built around the frustration of classic placement games, DonDen forces players to choose and move an opponent token each turn, leaving you with an even slimmer chance of beating the AI than in standard play.
System requirements
Runs on a PowerPC Macintosh with Mac OS 8 or later. Needs at least four megabytes of free memory.
Shareware terms
Free to evaluate for two weeks; a US$5.00 shareware fee is requested for continued use. Payment, disclaimer and copyright details ship in the READ ME file inside the DonDen folder.
Author
Released by Ichikawa Shinji of Redshirt Studio (redshirt@kagi.com), and preserved on Macintosh Garden as a 1999 board-game shareware title.
