About

MacinQuiz is a 1998 trivia game by Viktor Blasjo that tests how well the player actually knows their Macintosh. Questions cover Mac hardware history, classic Mac software, and developer trivia, with three difficulty levels and separate high-score tables maintained for each tier.

Question style

Sample questions preserved in screenshots include the byte-length of a creator code, the introduction date of the Mac Plus, the company behind Director, and visual identification of application icons - the kind of inside-baseball trivia aimed at long-time Mac users rather than newcomers.

Scoring

Each of the three levels keeps its own high-score window, so players can chase records at every tier independently. A perfect-score state is preserved in the screenshots and is achievable but uncommon.

Platform

The release targets System 7.0 through 7.6 and has been re-confirmed working under System 7.1 and 7.5.5 in Mini vMac v37.03 beta. Distribution is a single 240 KB MacinQuiz.SIT archive.

Cultural fit

MacinQuiz sits in the same niche as MacUser's contemporary You Don't Know Mac quiz - small, deliberately hard, and built for the kind of user who already knows what a creator code is.
