Daleks ET 2.0 is a Macintosh implementation of the classic Daleks chase puzzle, written by Jeremy and distributed through the Info-Mac archive. Stupid robots pursue the player across a 640x480 grid, and a little strategy can make them collide and self-destruct, turning expensive machinery into satisfying piles of rubble.
Gameplay
Each turn the player moves one square in any direction while every robot advances one step toward the player. The trick is to line robots up so that they crash into each other, leaving smoking wrecks that block other pursuers. Survive long enough and the screen clears for another wave.
What's New in 2.0
Version 2.0 was rebuilt on top of the MacZoop application framework, giving the game a standard Mac OS GUI. The author added animation, a menu to toggle it on and off, an About box, and a slightly shorter window so the bottom of the play field would no longer be cut off on 640x480 displays.
Requirements
Anything with a 640x480 screen should run it. The author wasn't entirely sure of the lower bound and invited players to just try it and see.
Distribution
Daleks ET is "send me something cool"-ware: the author asks satisfied players to mail him something interesting rather than money. Sources note the original Daleks concept is generally credited to John and Walter Wu, though no original source code was used here.
