Once in a Lifetime is a 1998 HyperCard solitaire by Angela Brett in which the goal is to land the four aces on their foundations with no other cards in play. Jokers shuffle the math by altering scores, so even imperfect runs reward careful planning over raw luck.
Solitaire Goal
The win condition is unusually strict: only the four aces should remain on the foundations at the end of a deal, leaving the rest of the tableau cleared away.
Joker Twist
Jokers are the wild card in more ways than one, modifying point values and giving players a path to high scores when a perfect clear is out of reach.
HyperCard Heritage
Built in HyperCard, Once in a Lifetime sits in the long tradition of single-author Mac stack games distributed as freeware or shareware throughout the late 1990s.
Light But Replayable
The compact ruleset and score-chasing layer make it well suited to short sessions on era-appropriate Classic Mac hardware.
