The Demuth Province 1.0.3 by Asa Swain is the first installment in a planned trilogy of Macintosh adventure games built with GameMaker. Exiled from your village, you must locate the legendary Xaria flower to prove your manhood, traveling through forests, treacherous trails, and ultimately deep into a mountain.
Setting
The Demuth Province is presented as a sprawling land to explore, with the Xaria flower quest framing a coming-of-age story rooted in village ritual.
Scope
The game ships with over 240 scenes of hand-drawn artwork, sound, and a substantial number of puzzles for a freely distributed shareware adventure of its era.
Authoring tool
Demuth Province was created with GameMaker, a popular classic-Mac adventure construction kit that enabled solo authors to assemble illustrated, scene-based interactive stories without writing low-level code.
Requirements
The game wants 1 MB of RAM (2 MB preferred), about 2.1 MB of hard disk space, and a 16-color monitor for the intended look; black-and-white play is supported but degrades the artwork. It is distributed as un-crippled shareware.
