The Bitter End is a 1999 Macintosh diversion from Epic Banana, written by Gib Foltz, in which the on-screen character (also named Gib) is the perpetual victim of the player's experiments. Attack him with explosives, arrows, and assorted dangerous items, and he simply gets up and waits for more.
Gameplay
Less a structured game than a sandbox toy, The Bitter End offers a small arsenal of cartoon weaponry and an indestructible target. Players cycle through tools and watch the resulting slapstick play out.
Publisher
Epic Banana, the studio behind a string of late-90s Mac shareware oddities, released the title in 1999 with Gib Foltz credited as the author.
System requirements
The Bitter End runs on 68k and PowerPC Macintoshes under System 7.0 through Mac OS 9. It works well in SheepShaver and Basilisk II for users on modern hardware.
