Secret About Box is a Breakout-style arcade game that originated as a hidden Easter egg inside Mac OS 7.5. According to its Macintosh Garden entry, this release was hacked out of the System 7.5 resources and repackaged in Desk Accessory format so it could be opened from the Apple menu on its own, without invoking the secret About box trigger.
Heritage
The game is widely noted for its symbolic link back to Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak's early careers at Atari, where Wozniak helped design the original arcade Breakout.
Form factor
Distributed as a Desk Accessory rather than a standalone application, so it lives in the Apple menu and opens in a small window over whatever you are working on.
Compatibility
Targets System 7.0 through Mac OS 9. The Macintosh Garden listing notes that it cannot run in the background, so it pauses when another application is brought to the front.
