Oxyd

Oxyd is the award-winning Dongleware puzzler that turned the Macintosh desktop into a marble-rolling laboratory of bits and bytes. Players guide a black marble through beautiful landscapes, manipulating switches, mirrors, and the life-giving Oxyds themselves to keep the digital world from suffocating.

Premise

The life-supporting Oxyds have closed up overnight, and the digital world inside your computer is threatened by suffocation. Only the marble - and the player guiding it - can reopen them and restore vital oxygen to the landscape.

Gameplay

Top-down levels are explored by rolling a single black marble across tiled environments, finding pairs of matching Oxyd stones and uncovering them in sequence. Hidden objects, switches, and physics-based hazards reward patient experimentation.

Pedigree

Released by Dongleware and designed by Meinolf Schneider, Oxyd is the direct predecessor of the later Per.Oxyd, sharing its marble physics and dual-stone matching mechanic while pioneering the series' contemplative tone.

Distribution

This release is the complete software with twenty levels of free play included; further levels traditionally required the printed Oxyd code book that shipped with the boxed product.
