Desk Invaders is a Space Invaders clone implemented as a Macintosh desk accessory by Graham Cox in 1991, letting users blast aliens from any application whenever the stress of work demanded relief. This v2.3 Gaeilge release is an Irish-language localization of the updated build.
The Desk Accessory Twist
Rather than a standalone game, Desk Invaders installs into the Apple menu and pops up over whatever you are doing, a rare example of an action arcade game packaged as a DA.
Irish Localization
The Gaeilge edition translates the menus and in-game text into Irish, an unusual touch for early-1990s Mac shareware and a small artifact of Mac localization beyond the major European languages.
Color and Compatibility
From v2.0 onward the game requires a Macintosh II-family machine or LC with 256-color or grayscale support, which one commenter on Macintosh Garden noted was surprising for a desk accessory of the era. It runs under System 7.0 through 7.6.
