Ns Shaft

NS-SHAFT 1.2F is the French-language build of Nagi-P Soft's downward-scrolling action game by Akihiko Akusanagi. The player guides a hardhat-wearing character with the arrow keys, dropping from platform to platform deeper into a shaft while a life gauge ticks away with each scrape against the cave's spiked pillars.

How It Plays

Falling all the way to the bottom of the screen ends the run, as does exhausting the life meter shown in the upper-left corner. Landing on ordinary floors restores life; specialised tiles such as conveyer belts and (new in 1.2) revolving floors complicate the descent.

What's New in 1.2

This release adds revolving floor tiles and a SpeedUp option, and carries forward the smooth scrolling and background music introduced earlier in the series. The French build localises menus and messages while keeping the same gameplay tuning.

Akihiko Akusanagi distributed NS-SHAFT through Nagi-P Soft as a sibling to NS-TOWER (an upward-climbing variant). The original project page lived at www.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~t60499/nps.html.

Distribution Terms

NS-SHAFT is shareware. The author granted Info-Mac explicit permission to include the program on its CD-ROM compilations; other shareware publishers were asked to contact Nagi-P Soft for approval.
