Tetris Plus is a 1995 freeware puzzler by Greg Fudala that takes the classic Tetris formula a step further by adding Columns-style color matching: arrange red, green, and blue blocks of the same color into horizontal or vertical runs of three to make them explode and clear the board's flash blocks.
Gameplay
Pieces fall in nine varieties with a range of color combinations. Three of those shapes are special, allowing fragments to break off the main piece in flight for unexpected fills and chain clears. The objective of each level is to wipe out the marked flash blocks rather than simply stack rows.
Sound and presentation
The game ships with a music soundtrack and original sound effects, and runs in either black-and-white or color so it looks correct on a wide range of compact and desktop Macs.
System requirements
Tetris Plus runs on any Macintosh from the Mac Plus forward under System 6 or 7, in monochrome or color, and needs roughly 1100K of free memory.
Distribution
Tetris Plus is freeware and may be redistributed unaltered and not for profit, including on CD-ROM compilations. The original release was uploaded to the Info-Mac archive in August 1995.
