Desk Fighter 1.4 HC is a HyperCard one-on-one fighting game by Louis-Nicolas Dozois, distributed through the Info-Mac archive in the mid-1990s. The "Turbo" build squeezes a five-character roster, a hidden boss, a secret playable character, and eleven backgrounds (six standard, five secret) into a stack you can run from the desktop.
Roster and stages
Five regular fighters share the bill with a single boss opponent and one unlockable secret character. Six default backgrounds rotate through matches, with five additional hidden stages waiting for players who poke around the stack.
HyperCard combat
The author bills it as "a whole lot of punch" packed into HyperCard. As with most stack-based games of the era, gameplay leans on scripted button hits and visible card transitions rather than smooth animation, giving it a deliberately lo-fi arcade feel.
Distribution
Posted to Info-Mac under game/arc/desk-fighter-14-hc.hqx as a BinHex 4.0 archive. The "HC" suffix marks the HyperCard build; "1.4" is the latest revision the author submitted.
