Brickles Pro is Ken Winograd and Space-Time Associates' 2004 update to the classic ball-and-paddle game for the Macintosh, succeeding Brickles3000 in the long Brickles lineage that traces back to the earliest Mac shareware. Version 1.0.7 is a small bug-fix release that restores reliable submissions to the Brickles Pro Online Hall of Fame.
Gameplay
Players knock a ball against a wall of bricks using one or more paddles, clearing arrays level by level. Brickles Pro ships with a library of built-in Brickle designs and a random mode that picks a fresh layout each level, effectively packing many Brickles games into one.
Customization
Almost every aspect of play is adjustable: ball and paddle sizes, paddle count, colors and patterns, stereo sound, window size, and an experimental speed control that ranges from very slow play (useful for stroke recovery) up to full speed on then-new Macs.
Online Hall of Fame
New high scores can be submitted to the Brickles Pro Online Hall of Fame web page, allowing players to compare results with friends, schoolmates, and family worldwide. The 1.0.7 release fixes a bug that occasionally rejected valid submissions.
Audience
Brickles Pro is pitched at everyone from young children just learning the mouse to fast-paced arcade fans, with the slow speed setting explicitly aimed at accessibility.
