Mazeworld Catacombs is a 1997 Farfetch Software dungeon-crawl for the classic Mac, re-released as freeware via the 1.0.5 maintenance build archived in Info-Mac as mazeworld-catacombs-105.hqx. Macintosh Garden sums the game up as "run around a maze, collect diamonds, kill monsters, activate the lava lamps, find the exit."
The 1.0.5 release
The submission from farfetch@ix.netcom.com explicitly frames this build as a maintenance release of an older title, with the headline change being a licensing flip: Mazeworld Catacombs is now freeware rather than shareware, retroactively unlocking the full game.
Sibling project
The same readme points players at Farfetch's then-new Mazeworld Abyss as the spiritual successor, hosted on the team's AOL members page. Catacombs is the older 2D maze entry; Abyss is the 3D arcade follow-up.
Compatibility
Macintosh Garden tags the game for System 7.0 through 7.6 and Mac OS 9 on 68k Macs, consistent with a mid-1990s Farfetch release that was never ported to PowerPC-only builds.
Distribution
