About

MacSnails is a Macintosh implementation of the classic Snails game by Swedish developer Niklas Frykholm, who first encountered the title on a ZX Spectrum and ported the concept to the Mac in the mid-1990s. It was released as part of the Niklas Frykholm Shareware Package and posted to Info-Mac in February 1995.

About the game

Snails is a turn-based artillery-style contest in which players lob projectiles at opposing snails across a 2D battlefield, adjusting angle and power each turn. MacSnails reproduces that ZX Spectrum-era formula in a small, focused Mac application.

Shareware terms

The game is shareware. The author asks $5 to register the entire Niklas Frykholm Shareware Package, of which MacSnails is one component, rather than charging per title.

Author

Written by Niklas Frykholm (nisfrm95@student.umu.se) while a student at Umea University in Sweden; the author's homepage at the time was http://www.ts.umu.se/~r2d2.
