ACRONYMS Update List Indigo is a content patch for ACRONYMS, the freeware HyperCard stack by Angela Brett of acronyms.co.nz. The update can be imported into any version of ACRONYMS from 1.0 through 3.3 to add the 896 new acronyms introduced in version 3.4 without re-downloading the full stack.
What is ACRONYMS?
ACRONYMS is a HyperCard stack that catalogs humorous, recursive, and just plain absurd acronym expansions. The project was started by Angela Brett (the "crazed Kiwi") and Tony McCoy O'Grady (Maxiogee), who exchanged invented acronyms by email until they had enough to package as a stack featuring a superhero called MACGIRL and her sidekick Keyboard.
How the update works
Update lists let existing users grow their stack incrementally. Indigo, the eighth update, takes a 3.3 install up to 3.4. Users without ACRONYMS are pointed at the full version on acronyms.co.nz instead.
Companion site
The acronyms.co.nz site mirrors the stack's contents, hosts further update lists, runs a Hall of Fame and the Acronym Times newsletter, and offers forums for collaborative acronym creation.
Distribution
The update was distributed through Info-Mac as acronyms-update-33-34.hqx alongside the full version (acronyms-34.hqx). The author contact in the BinHex header is angela@acronyms.co.nz.
