Hang Man Pro

Hang Man Pro is a shareware take on the classic word-guessing game for the Classic Mac. A puzzle word is hidden behind a row of dashes, and you have a fixed number of wrong guesses before the stick figure on the gallows is fully drawn and the round is lost.

Gameplay

Click letters on the on-screen keyboard or press them directly. Correct guesses fill in every matching position; wrong guesses add another body part to the gallows drawing. The round ends when the word is completed or the figure is finished.

Word Lists

The Pro release ships with several themed word lists - common English vocabulary, sports, science, geography, and so on - and lets you import your own plain-text word files so families and classrooms can build custom puzzles.

Difficulty and Scoring

Adjustable difficulty controls the number of allowed misses and whether the puzzle title or category is shown up front. Scores are tallied across rounds, and a high-score table records names, words solved, and average guesses.

Interface

The game uses a single resizable window with a clean Platinum look, animated gallows drawing, and audible feedback for correct and incorrect letters. Menu options cover sound, hints, and word-list selection.

System Requirements

A small shareware download that runs on 68k and PowerPC Macs under System 7 through Mac OS 9. Modest RAM needs make it suitable for older compact and PowerBook hardware.
