Talisman Maker is a late-1990s shareware utility for classic Mac OS, distributed through the Paganlink Software Archive and Info-Mac as version 1.5. Despite the slug grouping it with games on Mactrove, it is a creation tool: an occult/ritual application that lets the user assemble model talismans by mixing and matching preset image components for each talisman region.
Gameplay
The user picks from menus of preset glyphs, sigils and decorative borders that are layered to form a finished talisman, with the program advertising up to 17,280 distinct combinations. Accompanying material covers the suggested ritual methods, mantras and chants for the resulting design, framing the tool as part reference, part design surface rather than a game in any conventional sense.
Engine and technical changes
Both Macintosh and Windows builds were maintained in parallel; the Mac edition is a small classic-era application that runs under System 7 through Mac OS 9. It is preserved on the Mac GUI download index alongside other niche occult and esoterica software of the period.
Development and release
Talisman Maker was always a niche release, surfacing on the Pagan Net's curated software lists and on the Info-Mac forum where v1.5 was indexed. There is no record of a commercial publisher; the program circulated through the shareware-by-curator pipeline typical of specialty Mac apps in that era.
