Critical Mass is a turn-based strategy board game for the Macintosh in which two sides race to push squares of a grid past their safe bomb capacity, triggering chain-reaction explosions that capture neighboring squares. The Info-Mac entry describes it as "an interesting strategy game with 3 levels of play against your computer."
Rules
Players take turns placing bombs on a grid. Corner squares safely hold one bomb, edge squares hold two, and inner squares hold three. Exceed the safe limit and the square reaches critical mass, exploding and capturing all adjacent squares.
Features
The Info-Mac header notes three computer-opponent difficulty levels and color support, and lists the game as freeware.
Distribution
It was released as part of the April 1993 Home and School Mac collection and archived to Info-Mac as a 108K StuffIt 3.0 archive at /info-mac/game/critical-mass.hqx.
