Indovina is a 1999 Italian-flavored deduction game by DAPPSoft inspired by the classic Guess Who? board game. Players choose one of 24 cartoon faces and race to identify their opponent's hidden character through a series of yes-or-no questions, either against the computer or another player over AppleTalk.
Gameplay
Each match begins with a randomly assigned face. Players ask elimination questions about hair, glasses, expression, or clothing, flipping down portraits on a shared board until only the suspect remains. The first player to correctly name the opponent's face wins the round.
Sound and Music
The game ships with a small library of sound effects and four music modules. Players can drop additional MOD, MED, S3M, XM, or MIDI files into a music folder so the soundtrack can be expanded without modifying the application.
System Requirements
Indovina runs on a 68020 or PowerPC Mac under System 7 through Mac OS 9, asks for roughly 4-5 MB of RAM, and prefers a 640x480 display in 256 colors. Network play is handled through classic AppleTalk between two Macs on the same segment.
Curio Value
Indovina is one of the rarer late-90s Italian shareware Mac titles to survive on Macintosh Garden, notable for its bilingual UI and for proving that the Guess Who? formula translated cleanly to a quiet Sunday-afternoon AppleTalk match.
