Jur is a 1997 maze-and-survival arcade game for the classic Macintosh by Chris Kartheiser (cjk@flash.net). The player is dropped into an endless cavern populated by the wild Jur and tasked with collecting their eggs before the creatures themselves close in. Each round uses a random maze generator, so no two playthroughs lay out the same way.
Gameplay
The objective is to gather Jur eggs scattered through the cavern while staying out of reach of the wild Jur themselves. Stomping eggs before they hatch keeps the population down; let too many through and the cavern fills up fast.
Random mazes
Every game generates a fresh cavern layout, giving Jur replay value beyond a fixed set of hand-built levels. Version 1.6.2 is the build preserved in the Info-Mac archive.
Distribution
Jur ships as the BinHex archive jur-162.hqx in info-mac/game and is preserved on Macintosh Garden as a 1997 shareware release. Decode the .hqx with BinHex 4.0 or Stuffit Expander to obtain the application.
