Fallout Character Editor is a Macintosh utility by Tim Brown for editing characters in MacPlay's port of Fallout. Distributed as alpha version 1.0a2, it lets the player adjust the seven basic skill scores for both saved character files (.GCD) and characters already in play within SAVE.DAT files.
What it edits
The editor focuses on the seven core skill scores that define a Fallout character. By writing back into the relevant save structures, it allows after-the-fact tuning that the in-game character creator does not permit.
Supported files
Two file types are supported: .GCD saved character files, used to share or import a pre-rolled character, and SAVE.DAT files, the in-progress save state of an existing playthrough.
Release status
The release is explicitly an alpha (1.0a2). The author flags that bugs may be present and asks players to back up saves before use, in keeping with typical practice for early shareware utilities.
Author and distribution
The editor was posted to Info-Mac by Tim Brown (griffin@dreamscape.com / griffin@kagi.com), with a Kagi page linked from the original archive notice.
